I was inspired to create this line because of the poor opinion many women have of themselves for many reasons but especially about the way they look. It seems we have this idea that beauty is something we don't already possess and must obtain. It is not hard to see why we would think that. Since the beginning of time, it seems, we have been trying to achieve beauty. Women of the past have used contraptions, herbs, creams, perfumes, even toxic or lethal substances because they thought it would make them beautiful.
In modern times we are no different and will use anything regardless of the pain or dangers they pose. We are bombarded with commercials, ads and even news stories that tell us there is something wrong with us. We are told we need to cover up the grey, get rid of wrinkles and spots, lose weight, stay young, whiten our teeth, make our eyelashes longer, make our hair shiny, wear this style of clothing. There are magazines that tell us how to apply make-up, fix our hair and try to look like the skinny, flat bellied, half dressed, air brushed model or actress they put on the cover. They give us all this information and helpful products not because they care about us and want to help us but because they know we will buy it. We will buy it because we want to look and feel beautiful and acceptable and sexy. We buy into their definition of beauty, an unachievable goal to make ourselves look like something or someone else.
At first I thought it was just me and my low self-esteem until I was talking to someone very dear to me who was suffering and felt bad about herself because she was overweight. It didn't matter to her that she is a beautiful person with the biggest heart of anyone I know and that I love her for who she is. It only mattered to her that she didn't look like the girl on the front of the magazine we were looking at in the checkout line. She not only felt bad about her weight but also like a failure because she couldn't achieve what the magazine said she could. I got so angry that I turned the magazine around and put it back in the rack.
I also knew I wasn't alone as I heard about how my daughter and her friends have a ritual of looking through the Victoria Secret catalog so they can feel even worse about themselves. These same beautiful 20 year old girls pointed out to me all the "flaws" in their bodies that they wished would go away. How sad that they should waste one minute of their lives feeling that way about themselves.
These experiences and many others really made me want to change the way we think and feel about ourselves. We are all beautiful creations with a spirit, that invisible part of us that makes us who we are. Everyday we receive negative messages about ourselves over and over again until we believe them and make them true. Many of these messages come from ourselves. One of my favorite quotes by Henry David Thoreau is
"Public opinion is a weak tyrant compared with our own private opinion. What a man thinks of himself, that is which determines, or rather indicates, his fate."
If we are constantly being told by the outside world and ourselves that there is something wrong with us and that we are not beautiful then that is what we become to ourselves. So how do we change that? We redefine beauty and change our minds by saying positive things to ourselves. We cleanse our spirit so we can see the beauty we already have inside us. Real beauty that starts with self love and radiates outward as love and beauty.
This is the inspiration for Inspirit. I wanted to do something more than just sell soap. I wanted to give positive messages to women so they can see themselves as the beautiful creations they are, to redefine beauty. I want those young girls to see their selves as wonderful, beautiful, talented people with so much potential and so much life to experience. I want that woman that is so dear to me to not waste one more minute of her life feeling like a failure or that she is not beautiful. I want women to see the beauty they already possess.
To help achieve this goal I give you Inspirit. Each variety is scented with an essential oil blend designed to be uplifting, supportive, to aid in meditation and reaching your higher self. The bars are tucked in a silky organza bag with your own spirit cleansing affirmation statement to meditate on while in the shower. A positive, loving statement that you can say to yourself every time you shower with the soap, cleansing and uplifting your spirit while washing your body.
To further promote self love you also receive a piece of raw rose quartz crystal imbedded in an artistically designed charm. This crystal is known as a high vibration stone which promotes receptivity to all forms of beauty, heals emotions and the heart chakra, attracts love, teaches you to love yourself, and encourages acceptance and self-worth. It is also believed to draw off negative energy replacing it with loving energy and that holding it enhances positive affirmations, reminding you of your intention. True or not, it is a beautiful crystal and reminder of your inner beauty and love.
I hope you will enjoy and benefit from Inspirit and join me in redefining beauty for all women.
