Healing Hands

Your hands are a vital part of your health care. They have the power to keep you healthy so you should treat them well.

Talk to just about anyone lately and they will tell you they are suffering from or just got over having a cold or the flu or some virus. Chances are they got it from something they touched. I read that 80% of infectious diseases are spread by touch. That means your hands can keep you healthy or make you sick.

Since I have contracted 3 viruses this season I choose to support the power of my hands to keep me healthy. The number one way to do that is to make sure I wash them and wash them often. I also am going to be more careful what I touch.

Like today when I went to the gym I wiped down the weights before I used them and afterwards. The same went for the bench and treadmill I used. Hopefully I avoided any chance of catching yet another virus.

In this article I read,

“the simple act of hand washing is the single most important means of preventing the spread of viral and bacterial infections.”

Scenter of the Mind soaps

Yet, because it is winter and the air is so dry, your hands may also be dry and repeated washing can make them even worse. That is why it is important to use a good, natural soap that won’t strip the moisture from your skin. So many liquid and manufactured soaps are actually detergents and are formulated to remove all oils from your skin, even the protective ones that prevent dryness.

The same goes for an alcohol based sanitizer, which protects you from those germs when you are not able to wash, but take their toll on your skin’s health. You should use them sparingly and only when soap and water are not available.

Bottom line is that your hands, being the number one way you can get a disease, are also the best chance you have of avoiding one. I say they are worth the best soap you can get for them. Don’t you agree?
