You Just Stiffed God

My son brings to my attention this story about a waitress that got fired from Applebees because she posted a picture of a receipt that her customer, a pastor of a church, wrote these words on:

“I give God 10% why do you get 18”

She also crossed out the auto tip and wrote “0”.  The bill triggered an auto tip because there were 8 people in the party so it added 18% gratuity automatically. Apparently this woman didn’t like that and wanted to stiff the poor waitress.

Then when the waitress posted the picture of the receipt on the internet, which spread like wild-fire, the pastor gets embarrassed and complains to the restaurant getting her fired.

Wow what a day of God’s work that was. I say this pastor should be fired because she just stiffed God. I’m pretty sure that selfishness, greed, and pride do not qualify as 10% and I think the Bible tells us that how we treat others is in fact treating God the same way.

“What you gave that server, dear pastor, is indeed what you give God. Oh and for your information a server gets 18% because most of the time she/he has to share their tips with a bus boy and a bartender. So you not only stiffed her but 2 other people as well, oh and God.”

“Also the tip is part of a server’s pay because their base salary is way below minimum wage.”

This story really got to me, not because I am a waitress and I know how it feels to be stiffed, but because this woman used God to justify her ugly behavior. Wow, could it get any worse than that?

And brag about giving God a measly 10%? I mean waitresses get 18% and you only give God 10 and you are proud of that?

I’m pretty angry at Applebees as well and I don’t think I will ever eat there again. Shame on you Applebees, without your servers you are nothing! You should support them. Plus it was your policy about auto tipping that started this whole thing.

But as far as this pastor woman goes, I think I will pray for her because she obviously needs it. I don’t see how she can preach about God when she so clearly knows nothing about him. May he make himself known to her so she can truly do his work and give him more than 10%.

As for the waitress, I am hoping for a huge reward to come her way, somehow, some way.

Oh and God, I know how you feel getting stiffed like that. After all you did for that pastor, giving her a way to make a living using your name and your works. Plus you even blessed her by showing her the error of her ways and making her embarrassed about what she did giving her a chance to make it right. What did she do? She stiffed you again and gets the girl fired. I feel for you. I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

I’m just blowing bubbles.
