It amazes me how many messages we get a day, or maybe a better term is blessings, which we ignore. I have been struggling in certain areas of my life and the resulting stress has been effecting me in negative ways.
I send out prayers asking for relief and wonder why they go unanswered. Then today it hits me. They were answered. I just didn’t see it because I was focused on the asking and not the blessing.
This realization made me feel awful dense but in a humorous way. The answer was humor.
Earlier this week, as I was wallowing in my bad feelings, my good friend Christine from Dream Heart Services shared this picture on Facebook.

I can’t quite make out the owner’s name on it but I think it is E. B. Chechecastro. Any way Chris posts this picture and declares it to be “Laugh More Week” to support the health and well-being of the WHOLE person.
I clicked “like”, shared the picture on my page, and then ignored the message. Duh!
Since then she has been posting things to make one laugh or at least smile but still I ignored the messages and kept feeling bad.
Yesterday I talked with another of my good friends about how bad I was feeling and why things weren’t improving for me. He reminded me that in order to feel better and have things improve I needed to feel better first. I know, I thought, but how? I have been trying and doing my usual things to make myself happy but they are not working so well. How can I feel good?
Today, because God, the Universe, or whatever you call the Divine does not give up, I get another message.

Finally I get it. Laughter! That is the answer, the gift. Just laugh and you can’t help but feel better.
As they say, “Laughter is the best medicine.” It turns out it is true. A study by the cardiologists at the University Of Maryland Medical Center showed that people with heart disease were 40% less likely to laugh at things than healthy people the same age. They believe it has something to do with the effects of stress on blood vessels and other processes in the body.
So all this time the answer is there right in front of my face and I don’t see it. It is like one of those moments when you are looking for the keys in your hand or the glasses on your head. LOL

The best part of all this is that the realization of how dense I have been made me laugh out loud which made me feel so much better about my life. Then the blessings really came flooding in because I began to feel so grateful for the wonderful people in my life. They are blessings themselves and help me so much whether they know it or not.
So now I’m feeling all warm and wonderful and I wanted to share. I wanted to remind you in case you are suffering something right now to try to feel better first and then the rest will fall into place because what you really want is to feel better anyway. Put another way, the thing you desire…. employment, love, health etc…. is just a means to make you feel better. Feeling better is truly what you desire so just feel it now and the rest will come.
Got it!?
How do you achieve it?
Have a laugh.
Watch a funny show or movie. Look up jokes on the internet. Tickle somebody. Maybe you have a friend with one of those contagious laughs. Tell them a joke and make them laugh so you can catch it. Look at whatever is bringing you down in a funny way. Do whatever it takes to laugh about it and feel better. If something is really bad and you can’t find something funny about it just start with a smile and hold it as long as you can.

I hope these ideas work for you and you feel better. If you have any other ideas please feel free to suggest them. Maybe you are clever and can finish this joke for me…A Soap walks into the bar….? I would love to hear what you can come up with.
I’m just blowing bubbles.
A soap walks into a bar and says “ouch”.
Okay – stupid joke, but I was amusing myself – lol!
LOL That was a good one Allison.
